Why Polls of All US Voters Don’t Give the Right Answers

The United States goes not have direct voting.  Each state votes, and then casts a certain number of votes determined by population in an ‘electoral college’.  Here is the current map of the US with the number of electoral college votes for each state.  As of this day, Obama has 247 pretty sure votes;  Romney, 191, and there are 100 toss up votes.  You need 270 votes to win.  Obama is ahead in most of the states which are considered toss ups.  Go figure.
