Thomas Baehr, born in 1968, has created the strip POLE in 2005. In the same year the New York Press published it for the first time. Since then, the penguins have appeared in newspapers, magazines, and books in the USA and Europe. The strip won the GoComics‘ Fortune Cookie Challenge in 2013. In 2017 POLE found its publishing home at Gringo Comics in Germany. The third book will be published there in the summer of 2022.
