US-EU Trade Deal Trojan Horse?

Over two months, three countries and nine cities the giant Trojan horse that is touring Europe has already raised awareness among thousands of people of the dangers of the proposed EU-US trade deal.With actions in cities across Hungary, Germany and Denmark, Friends of the Earth groups have used the Trojan horse to engage and mobilise citizens against the trade deal, which would put corporate interests over the needs of people and the planet.

Protesters outside the European Commission building in Brussels burned an effigy of German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Friday. The demonstrators were made up mostly of farmers on tractors who are opposed to a trade deal between the EU and the US. The protesters believe it will negatively impact Europe’s food standards.

The protest was meant to coincide with the second day of an EU summit, but most of the European leaders had already left the Belgian capital. EU-US Trade Deal
